Here’s what Miss Universe 1973 Margie Moran wants to say to Gazini Ganados

Aiming to bring home the fifth Miss Universe crown for the Philippines, Gazini Ganados is all set and ready to compete for the 68th edition of the pageant happening on Dec. 9 at Atlanta, Georgia, where the reigning Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray will crown her successor. The 23-year-old beauty hailing from Talisay, Cebu, together with the other 89 delegates from different nations around the globe, will take part on the most beautiful day in the universe with grace, poise, and elegance, proving they are confidently beautiful with a heart.

Not new to the Miss Universe stage is the second Filipina to win the crown, Miss Universe 1973 Margie Moran-Floirendo.“I believe that winning a pageant is actually destiny,” says the former beauty queen titleholder to Manila Bulletin Lifestyle.“No matter what you do, it is a play of who are joining and who are judging.”

Looking back, Margie says that the pageant has greatly evolved from what it was before. “Kami (us), we just join with no training, no nothing,” says the chairwoman of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.“I was just a model and a dancer, so I could project on stage. I just read. But now, everything is tallied.”

From one ultimate Filipina to another, Margie is confident that Gazini will give a good fight for the crown this year. “I would like to tell her to enjoy what she’s doing and to relax. Also,read a lot as she will be answering many questions because it’s more competitive now than it was before.”

Apart from winning the crown, the best part for Margie was being at the place of the gods. “The highlight for me was doing it at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens, Greece. It felt like it’s where Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love, once stood, together with the gods.”
